Applications are now CLOSED for the 2022, young women's Leadership + Coaching Program (LCP). Find the application here. High school aged students who identify as women - cis, trans, and/or nonbinary - are encouraged to apply.
What makes The LCP unique is it combines the best of age-appropriate leadership development + life coaching with a focus on within. Most leadership programs for this age group focus on the "doing" of leadership, which is not a bad thing, it's just this age group tends to "do" enough (academics, extracurriculars, sports, service projects, part-time employment, etc.). The LCP focuses on how to "be" a leader - what leadership feels like starting from within.
Eckhart Tolle said it best, "If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place." The LCP focuses on the inside work of being a leader, so no matter where or what a teen encounters now or in the future, they will have the strength, tenacity, open-mindedness, and bravery to persist.
Over the past decade, the research on coaching has become more plentiful. The impact of coaching on individuals includes....
Candidates are expected to....
1. This one-of-a-kind leadership program geared for teens incorporates coaching with leadership; most leadership programs do not infuse one-on-one coaching into their curriculums.
2. Participation and completion of The LCP can be included in scholarship and college applications, listed on resumes, and woven into college essays.
3. The LCP curriculum was written with the teen in mind. Specifically, The LCP curriculum is taught by Jen Lara - a certified coach and educator - who has degrees and training in education, leadership, coaching and adolescent development. Additionally, all coaches within the program have passed an extensive background check and are trained in life/leadership coaching.
4. The LCP is Zoom-based which makes it convenient, easy to access for most participants, and has little to no impact on parent/guardians' schedules.
5. Participation and completion of The LCP adds another feather in the cap of the teen forging deeper tenacity, inner strength, curiosity + openness.
6. The LCP's unique curriculum supports the whole person not just adolescence. What participants learn and take-away from The LCP are leaderships skills to support them for a lifetime - no matter the age, stage, challenge or opportunities ahead.
